Yeah this is really good, glad you picked it up. Can't really compare this to their other discog in my opinion.

Artuma, I would disagree. It's obviously less intense on the surface due to the dropping of harsh vocals but if you give it time, it's quite powerful.

"much much much less powerful than their other stuff. it sounds like they just suddenly stopped caring"

This comment frustrates me honestly. Whatever, you're entitled to think what you want, you have your own opinion, etc. But I could not see it any more differently, and I don't understand how someone thinks that they stop caring because they turn off the distortion and stop screaming into the microphone.

There is an audible weight in Kyle Durfey's singing voice. A weight that makes it sound as though his struggle is downright crippling. His delivery, mixed with that weight and the very dynamic nature of the music makes it anything but careless or not powerful.

It's frustrating and I feel sorry for you Artuma, and you too fury. I don't even have any emotional experience to relate (that I know of) to this album, and literally stops me in my tracks at some points. I don't know how you don't hear it, but I suspect it has to do with expectations of what their music should sound like based on prior releases.

895 at the end is crushing.

Just don't see myself liking this from what I've heard but maybe I'll give it a go eventually

change isn't necessarily a bad thing but what these guys had was something exceptional and then they threw it out of the window

I have a feeling I'd agree, but may still give this a go at some point. The idea of other music is more exciting though so I keep putting it off.

i like this most out of their stuff, but how could them getting worse even ruin an old album?

I guess it doesn't ruin the album, but it kind of ruins the band. Like now Defeater are shit I don't think to listen to them as often.
