Indeed it is. Meditations might be peak wild Coltrane but I think that’s because it’s smoother going down. This is spikier.
Btw, Om is a very under-appreciated spiritual free jazz number (and proper unhinged), if you get around to it. Also top-tier ‘trane!

Coltrane is a boss because he started (as most jazz composers do) with more "traditional" styles, like hard bop and modal jazz, and was great at it. Then he practically developed and started incorporating more ethnic, ethereal, avant-garde elements (which would later become known as "spiritual" jazz) and was great at it. Then those spiritual inclinations evolved and led him down the path of bombast, chaotic free jazz.......and he was great at it.
Everything the man attempted became a cornerstone of the specific style.
