Nah, that's fair. Pre-Confield Autechre is more emotionally involved. I think so too. But cold, distant music can bring different kinds of emotions.

i had this weird thought thats always sort of stuck with me since i had it

from confield and onward i feel like their music is almost like really really high level math where you can essentially get as close to replicating things and experiences from the real world through sets of equations and models, but its still just a set of numbers on a page. like u can come up with a set of equations that model the exact spin of a top and how it'll slow down with time and fall over time, but looking at that string of numbers and variables is a very different experience from watching it actually happen. to me that period of their music is that same basic concept but with music where its trying to create natural emotions through incredibly complex and detailed sounds and textures that when isolated don't really have much emotional value to them. because of that i think it explores a lot of indescribable and subversive emotions that most other types of music cant really touch on very well

Dat's fair insight as well.
