ha i could relate at one point, heard most of these songs a ton as a child and really hated them. revisited this as a whole 2 years ago (way too late tbh i'm 25 now) and was completely floored by it. a true pop classic

The album's made up of songs about heartache and break-up. Given enough time, unfortunately, chances are you're going to relate to one of them.

That's the case for tons of albums though? Doesn't necessarily make it enjoyable. I've never understood that argument. Relatable themes is just one aspect of music & something as universal as 'heartache and break-up' is found in a very substantial proportion of material we're likely to hear, especially in a genre such as pop/rock.

That's true. If you don't like a song, then the theme probably isn't going to change that... I just meant, with songs our parents played but we didn't enjoy as kids, they can become relatable (and liked) as we get older. Age brings a different perspective.
