Since The Day it All Came Down is their best record [2].

insomnium's idea of writing a new riff is just play an old one in a different key.

Simples!

so disappointed about their north american tour starting this week, both ville friman and niilo sevanen (aka half the band) aren't going. niilo is being replaced by some american guy nobody's ever heard of and ville is being replaced by nick cordle who used to be in arch enemy. not even worth going anymore.

like i understand that niilo had sudden family stuff to attend to that was pretty serious so using some unknown guy was kind of unavoidable and they wanted to salvage the tour given the planning and money that's gone into it, but i can't help but feel like the show would not be even remotely close to what it could be

Saw them live with Dark Tranquillity and tbh I wasn't impressed, especially with Vanhala. They were a bit sloppy

The fact that you wont be subjected to Ville's live vocals can be looked upon as a blessing.

In 2013 I could've seen them opening for CoB, but second half of the tour had Decapitated as opener instead.

You still need to check out Above the Weeping World if you haven't.

It most likely does yeah, it has a pretty different atmosphere than this one. I haven't really given this a fair chance either tbh. I remember it dragging a bit too much for my liking though.

This is excellent, but first three records are surely better.

As all have said the first three are better but I can see why this would appeal to you as well Noctus. This sounds a bit more "progressive" than their past stuff... I don't know something about it is just quite different from their other records. Still listen to this regularly.

it has a very unique atmosphere - bright yet monochrome, oddly uplifting despite being nihilistic. it reminds me a bit of my own music.
