That's fair, all three albums are up there with PT's best anyway. That's definitely the best era of their discog in general (even with FOABP as my second favorite album of theirs)

^ Same. Saw the song on a "Best Drumming Songs of All Time" list and never looked back from there.

I think for me it was Arriving Somewhere, and I was about 12 or 13 years old when my brother introduced that song to me. But then I got FOABP when it first came out, and that album was when my love for PT officially began :] Don't get me wrong, I liked Arriving Somewhere back then, but I don't think it clicked with me at the time like it does now

I've introduced several people I know to "Trains" with varying results. Some thought it wasn't interesting enough for them and some thought it was great. Nonetheless, it was interesting to see people's in-person reactions to those kinds of recommendations.

I was so proud when I introduced my previous supervisor to PT through Lazarus and Halo. He's mostly into alternative metal and traditional heavy metal, so it was cool to get him into these guys. I was also able to get him into Gojira through Way of All Flesh

Were it not for the internet this band would remain completely unheard of and buried. They’re the best of the unearthed bands from the internet era.

Idk about that zak this band is pretty influential
|
| |
They kind of had the same mystique in the pre-ipod age as a band like Belle and Sebastian, from what I can gather. Their music wasn't widely available and they were seen as a band for people 'in the know' at the time.

making some leaps zak
kinda hard to say since PT's timeline is parallel with the rise of the internet and can't rly be extracted from it, but both the band and SW have enough demonstrable offline clout that imma lay a hefty bet

Unlike you slags I lived it and I’m telling you no one bar the editor of ‘prog magazine’ or some such knew who the bloody hell this band were up until deadwing.

Well yeah they really make a mark with In Absentia and Deadwing and the internet didn’t count for much back then.

My uncle was/is a prog nerd and knew about them but that's definitely not representative lol
