This album's alright, just not that great. At least it's better than the atrocious shitheap known as their self-titled, which is still one of my least favorite records of all time

I miss the techy drumming tbh.

It's painfully uninspired at times but it's hardly awful. "Coming Home" is excellent, their best song since City of Evil imo.

Drumming here is painfully basic. It seems like they called Lars Ulrich as a session drummer

It has been said more than once that Arin was told to play that simple. He is the man behind the kit in Carry On, so it's objective that he can do more than what he did here, even though I don't like that song.
That doesn't excuse the fact that he is boring here, of course.

I can see what they wanted here, but that doesn't excuse the fact that it wasn't done very effectively.
Would be best to return to a less one-tone album like City or Nightmare.

Ugh.. Not for me

Is there any word on a new album? Preferably one that isn't un-listenable like this?
|

I heard some months ago that they're getting back on studio after touring to write new material or something.

i heard a rumor once that a DJ got fired from a radio station because he literally played the t/t all the time

Supposedly, Arin doesn't play for them anymore. Can't blame him. He was too good for them, and they made him play like a pussy.

he really wasn't that good. he was awful live trying to copy portnoy's drum fills which arent that hard to begin with

The only listenable song is the bonus track

It's not as offensively bad as many people consider it. Quite good at some parts, even. Though I probably feel that way because I like a lot of the bands that they tried to rip off on this album. Still, this is probably the best that M. Shadows has sounded so far, and they avoid a lot of the cheesiness that pervaded much of their earlier work.
