3:36 onwards on Nachash is one of the best parts of the album. Soo good!

I will admit the snare is a little much in The Refusal

I just love the term faux prog. It's the perfect label to slap on any band one dislikes (:

Of course she would say that about her main rival for king/queen of faux prog

Agree 100%, I enjoy Themata even today but it's no where near the quality of this and certainly no where near the quality of Sound Awake.
Of course at the end of the day it depends what you like but this and SA are far more my sort of music.

Themata would be a lot better if the pacing and style didn't completely change with the last few songs. This album's problem is that it seems to all blur together.

Surprise surprise, this gets so much better with every listen.

Upped it to a 4.5. Doubt it'll grow any higher but who knows. Really fuckin' dig this now. Still not in same league as Sound Awake but in a few months who knows. Will have to see its lasting appeal.

Sound Awake has been my favourite for so fucking long that I've reached the point where I've just listened to it to death. I can't really enjoy it in the way that I enjoy this. This is new and fresh and exciting, and likely to become every bit as compelling as Sound Awake was for me two years ago

I want to add on a slightly unrelated note that the Converge influence is really shining through on A M War
