i used to have nightshade forest, the 12" sleeve was gorgeous indeed
and the disc had a big eye of sauron on it
the big box set that the spanish (maybe portugese) company put out like 7 years ago was the best though, one of the (i think) dol guldur sides was a pic disc of a gorgeous elf drawing, and i'm not even a lover of elves, but it was something else

Been listening to this for almost a week. Songs can get a little repetitive at times, especially the title track, but the atmosphere, as campy as it is, is what really sells it. When the choirs start in Earthshine m/ m/ Starting to look at their back catalog too (Stronghold, Oath Bound), can't wait

its meant to be repetitive, Those melodies aren't enough

admittedly this is where I came into knowing about Summoning, so I may be biased. I think this is their best though. Every song is pure atmosphere, and their sound is perfectly refined here.

Oath Bound is definitely their best. Best mix and highest quality production. Best sounding keys and drum programming by far and all the songs are quality

I actually am really curious why they used higher quality software for keys and drum programming for oath bound and then went back to the crappy sounding midi stuff for the albums after. I know some fans like their old video game music nostalgia appeal but most people I've talked to like oath bound the best because frankly it sounds the best

idk man Oath Bound has the worst production for me, apart from the last one. it's just brick walled to hell
also I personally think this has their highest quality drums and keys, they sound real af...almost like live instruments

Old Mornings Dawn keys and drums ride the perfect balance between high quality and the specific "midi" style Summoning are so known for that create that epic atmosphere.
For me it basically sounds like the natural progression from Oath Bound to what is essentially Oath Bound 2. Every song on Oath Bound had choice moments but for me, Old Mornings Dawn never drops in quality across every single song.
Also just wanna say the title track on Old Mornings Dawn is one giant, midi-eval 10 minute orgasm.
