that "new" song is so, so good. i don't think they're playing it too safe really, sounds like a natural follow up to this. I do think another whole album/EP of songs sounding just like that could get a bit tiresome though.
besides, risk isn't rly something i often associate with shoegaze. im content with mbv worship and this is that of the highest caliber

I like pulling my dick to Loveless as much as the next man but c'mon, it's been 20 years. Fave gaze since then is Dead Cities... by m83, and that's the exact direction I wish other artists would take. Burst through the stratosphere, soar into space, explore new galaxies.

haven't heard dead cities actually, gotta check it.
and i do think these guys are a bit more than straight up loveless part 2, or 3 or 500 or however many. their sound is a lot less suffocating, more open and ethereal, especially on the new track. wispy i suppose... the production is just incredible. I'm hoping they expand on that and bring some fresh air to the 'gaze scene. less heavy, more floaty.

I dig these dudes for sure, this EP is at times the very definition of dope. Just wish someone would kick gaze into the next century, or galaxy in this cash.

while i'm not placing any bets, i've got a good feeling for these guy's next record. keep in mind that was only a single. there's still plenty of room for experimentation on the rest of the release... fingers crossed
