still searching for a valid reason why plebs consider life is not a waiting room better than this

Much appreciated guys, I will definitely add these guys to my list, may be a little bit before I get to them (maybe not), but I’ll definitely come back with my thoughts when I do.

All the Best Cowboys stomps most of this album imo
Lotta good riff centric pop punk fun for sure but that's where the HEAVIES really stir

I'd say I dig both albums equally. I think my biggest knock on SS is that its second half is much more inconsistent than the first. SS's tracks 1 - 6 slay, then 7 - 13 are pretty hit or miss for me. Nothing terrible or even skippable to me (aside from Negative Space), just has some filler.
Waiting Room's low point is tracks 6 - 8. That's it imo.
When I listen to SS, after Shark Attack I'm always kind of bummed the rest of the album doesn't match what I just heard. When I listen to Waiting Room, after Wolves at the Door I know I've got more bangers coming to me, including Map the Streets and Chandelier which love. That's just me though!

I always saw this band as getting progressively worse with each album until Renacer dropped. They have some deep cuts but they'll never top their early hits. I think that's part of the reason they softened their sound too.

ehhh im the opposite. this album still holds up but people look at it enfold with hella rose tinted glasses. lyrics on that album are so atrocious they kinda make it so everything aged badly
this, the fire and renacer are tops for sure

I'll give you that one. I was always more partial to songs like rum is for burning or bite to break skin over tie her down. I'm of the belief Buddy has expressed sentiments of disdain for his thoughts as a kid and grew from it in a way that afforded him a newfound peace in it. It's one of the reasons Senses Fail has retained my attention over the years, Buddy is good at keeping his fans invested in what he has to say.

I actually don’t mind his old lyrics because of his age, what he he was going through, etc
LIEY still is phenomenal musically front to back

To All the Crowded Rooms is such an underrated track. Love the crazy rhythms on verse guitar riffs, and Buddy’s vocals really just soar. I enjoy his vocals on other albums but this is clearly his peak. Completely unique straight tone vocalist with insane range, but one of those non-trained rock singers who could not hold onto his voice.

man this is absolutely fantastic. just an improvement in almost every way from the debut for me. so much more dynamic and interesting. cleans have so much more range and the vocal harmonies really enhance them. just so much more confident. screams more fitting and refined although i kinda wish they were used a touch more. not as heavy as i thought it was gonna be but that's not a negative. it actually gave me a lot of futures vibes with the vocal melodies and shimmery guitar parts. especially the last three track run whew, gorgeous and dark which futures also aces that blend. i love the descent throughout the album, from the really anthemic bangers with killer hooks to the really darker ones at the end and ones that are a mix in the middle. incredibly well done from a structure perspective.
calling all cars, t/t and cowboys would be my three picks that i think define each section. so many great ones but fantastic stuff and maybe one i could see growing into a 5 after some more listens.

I don’t but frankly I kinda see them as two sides of the same coin.
Futures if you didn’t check the deluxe, do so. Battle Hymn in particular goes hard.
Unrelated but can we talk about how good War Paint is????

I also dig the debut way way more than this but this still rips. I dig Life is Not a Waiting Room almost as much as the debut.

appreciate that atari! definitely lots of great tracks but the way the last 3 ones blend together is so masterfully done. once you hear cowboys you gotta hear the rest.
definitely excited to continue the discog on.

would be curious to see how waiting room hits you, that album got a lot of negative reviews when it dropped but i think its sick and does a good job building off the foundation from this album and pushing it a little more minor key

This album is still fantastic all these years later. One of the few bands where the lyrics relate on such a personal level. Also cool to experience Buddy's personal journey throughout their discography.
Waiting Room is good too but the weak ass production really hurt that one. It's like they cranked the higher frequencies all the way up and there are times it clips so bad, even with me spending time eq'ing my head unit.
