This EP is definitely a step up from their previous work. And why do you guys hate the vocals? Everyone I have talked to says that Alex Koehler is one of the best vocalists around, but he keeps getting sucked into generic crap. He is definitely someone who deserves respect. This is just an opinion, of course.

And it's not like you either love or hate deathcore. I like good deathcore, i hate bad deathcore. The problem is that the bad deathcore is around 90% of it.

Utah deathcore sextet Chelsea Grin have finally released something of passable quality in 5 track EP 'Evolve'. With former Born of Osiris guitarist Jason Richardson joining the band, there is much more diverse & technical guitar-work apparent here, while 'Evolve' is also given a boost by atmospheric symphonic elements. Furthermore, there's actual melody in the musicianship... & even some clean vocals! Let's not get carried away; this is still pretty average stuff, but it's a clear progression & closer 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' is really good. Let's just hope that they continue on in this direction. Recommended Tracks: Don't Ask Don't Tell & Lilith.
