The new Jonsi reminds me a lot of this, in a good way. Kind of like a companion album.

My thoughts exactly. I was pleasantly surprised with the new jonsi album. I listened to it while flying from Berlin to london as the sun was rising and it was a very very nice experience. I felt like an angel.

nah, Med Sud is worse than this and Von just isn't very good at all

I bought it on CD in 1999 Pika mate.

I loved it, but I don’t think I’ve given it a full listen since about 2002.

I like the subtlety on this one.

This is great. Definitely the calm I needed after a rather shitty week.

After all the 'ambient' comments, I went into this expecting almost pure minimalism. Varúð then proceeded to kick my proverbial arse...

It is a bit odd that essentially the climax of the entire album occurs so early on, but it did not make the comedown any less enjoyable with the progressively more abstract second half. Hopefully this has staying power.

underrated. some tracks here invoke a heavy sense of "coming back to reality from thinking about the past" melancholy i'm glossy eyed as i type this

Easily best Sigur Ros after the holy trinity of Agaetis, ( ) and Takk. Beautiful album.

I agree. It would've been one hell of a closer, but i feel like they already did the slow-build-to-huge-crescendo thing with () and they probably didn't want to repeat themselves. I actually love the track order now.

Third song is the best and probably should have closed the album tbh.

Yes. Probably going to up this a .5

Back when Valtari was released I was not impressed by it at all. Interesting how time (and experiences) affects / alters music
