Actually I think the SIIILEEENCE SIILEENCE FEED INTO SILLEENCE and then the solo that comes after was the highlight of 2012.

You can say that again, intense.

This is really a 4.5 because the mono-structure can get a bit tiring (sometimes), but I'm a sucker for emotion...

Also, The Lost Child was such a wasted opportunity. Doesn't need to build, it would be the best song here if it stayed chilled and sad and was half the length. Ah well - still amazing.

Agreed, as well as Internal Landscapes. They have gorgeous bits and really should have been gorgeous throughout.

I actually think Internal Landscapes is the best thing on the album, but I'm really swayed by the spoken parts which I think are inspired. The song is good, but those bits are what make it special for me.

I can see why if they were just another part of the song then it might be a disappointment.

What pisses me off wit that one is how he finishes his speech of beautifully.

And then they decide to repeat the bit he said earlier.

It completely takes the effect away...

I hadn't even noticed that but it does give a nice connection to the whole 'ending where we started thing'. Like the brightness was part of him from birth and then it's where he returned in his 'death'. I'm more annoyed at the guy who goes 'what's up' or something as the tape ends. Kinda ruins it...

I think the "whats up" gives it a whole grounded feel

Album Rating: 2.5 | Sound Off

untouchable part 1 is great but the lyrics let it down and untouchable part 2 just spreads what part 1 had way too thin and makes it feel a lot cheaper

the gathering of the clouds is among the better tracks and really underrated if you ask me, lightning song and sunlight are just way too predictable but vaguely enjoyable i guess

the storm before the calm is okay but i just feel there's a lot of wasted potential in it, it sounds nice but it ends there, there isn't that sense of reward to it and it just comes across as unmemorable, like the majority of this album

the last three tracks may as well not even be there, all just really unmemorable, i have no idea what people see in the lost child as it just comes across as so, so clichéd and by then the album is totally tired out and used everything it had in its arsenal

gotta say too the production let me down a lot, sound sucks compared to whbwh

there isn't a single thing this does more successfully than whbwh imo ]:

" have no idea what people see in the lost child as it just comes across as so, so clichéd..."

here's another cliche for ya, it's one one of those songs that I don't even know how to describe it, let alone explain my feelings towards it. it just hit me.

Don't even care if Anathema themselves or other bands did this sort of thing before.

Agree with the production.

The Beginning and the End is Anathemas best track imo :-/.
