no way, kalk is obvs near-perfect but much less inconsistent or unified, and the highs aren't quite as high. probs the best 1-2 combo of albums ever though idk

Bro, Kalk flows waaaaay better than this. The high is comparable for the likes of Shukyo, meisai, kuki, Ishiki. A few tracks in Shouso Strip are skippable IMHO.

this is one banger after another and has about as much need for 'flow' as a healthy dynamic variance rating lmao (though having said that, it's q smartly structured in a brash way).

i v much rate that every track on kalk is a different kind of experiment, but ones that miss the mark slightly have a much stronger bearing on its pacing than the 2-3 filler tracks here (and even those are great individually tbh, only Issue is Stoicism)

It's hard for me to compare this and Kalk because I like them for completely different reasons. I highly admire the creative risks and experimentation of Kalk, while this one hits me on an emotional level that none of Shiina's other albums ever have

Yeah, most of her hardest emotional beats are on here or Muzai. Abe just can't handle that she rasps at the end of some notes and doesn't use autosqueak

meh. Kalk has many useless cute songs, I mean Ishiki, Torikoshi Kurou, even Okonomi de, all sound like music for bank commercials, they're sparse and have limited vibe capabilities. This album is her greatest and a consistent tour de force. One day you'll get it don't worry Aberf!

Can someone inform Honnou normies that their little favorite song is officially 3x worse than the best song on this album GIBUSU? Thanks!

Gibs is big, but Honnou makes you look cooler if you do it at karaoke and that is the critical factor for Shiina Ringo in 2021 [2]

Can we agree that Ringo blew her career back in 2003 when she decided to form Tokyo Jihen instead of covering this track (or at least steal it)? www.youtube.com/watch?v=MwzKWpt0Jno ; Senpai?

Rock Ringo >>> Jazz Ringo [2] but integrating the two has provided fantastic results.

Gibs and Honnou rule but Tsumi to Batsu is probably Shiina's best track.

You could've guessed the song, lazy boy! it's Miharu Koshi - Cherchez Mephistopheles

Are you flirting??? Sokurov is like the adopted child of Tarkovsky and Bartas, his cinema has power over me!

This is fuqqin insane

Some of these screams (especially on "Identity" about 20s in) are enough to make the vocalists for a lot of my favorite death/black metal records sound like pansies
