As much as I love Vheissu I wish these guys hadn't gone all experimental. This and The Illusion of Safety are head and shoulders above the rest... they just have this special emotional punch that the band lost with later albums.

the experimental side is what makes them so much more interesting to me imo and alchemy 1-2 is the peak of that, where they master their heavier and quieter stuff

hard to compare, they are experimental in different ways

like what? the album is full of unconventional rhythms, stylistic changes and diverse instrumentation. it may not all be very mature but i'd say it's fairly experimental
