seriously, album is boring and repetitive

nothing new from Trivium

they know how to play their instruments but the songwriting is generic

I may be one to think, they succeed at pin-pointing their core aspects across all their work and put together a core album. However I simply cannot be the one to say 'there's hope for the next time around'

I tried listening to it again and actually had to stop listening, and the last time that happened was with Killswitch Engage's last effort

Listened to album a couple of times, nothing stood out. For me, it's just bland and boring

i dont mind some unoriginal music, as long as it's good, you know? If it's catchy or if it has groove etc. But it's the bland part that gets me, if the music has no energy or feel or emotion to it I'm just like, eh, whatever, next CD please!

This band blows. Their sound has changed so much they've lost their identity. Their sound has deteriorated into sounding like everthing else. One word. . .bland.

Really not true is it. It still has the core Trivium sound, just alot more streamlined than Shogun.

Throwing in some pop genre traits and the end result is In Waves.

Shogun: powerful and varied thrash/metalcore crossover thanks to great screams and the bands technical prowess

In Waves: generic metalcore mixed with pop metal saved purely by the bands natural knack for writing catchy stuff

So yeah, no...

I wouldn't call this catchy really, they are so inconsistent here when it comes to creating a lasting and memorable melody.

Only memorable track here is the title track, I can't remember any others.

- In Waves
- Inception of the End
- Black
- Built to Fall
- Caustic Are the Ties that Bind
- Forsake Not the Dream

Love all these tracks, the rest of the album not so much :] (except for All Of These Yesterdays but I'm kinda ashamed to admit to liking that track...)
