@decendists1 I agree with your point in that the album is depressing, but it's depressing in the happiest way possible. (if that even makes sense.) That's one of my favorite aspects of the album. if you're in a good mood you can crank the tunes with your windows down and hit the beach, but if you're upset you can just sing along to the songs, and feel connection with the lyrics. Can't Complain is one of the most honest songs i've heard out of BTMI!
I've been following them since To Leave and Die, and being from Long Island myself it's was a fun album considering the (somewhat) inside jokes such as, "Happy Anterrabae Day!" and "Congratulations John.." but what appeals to me most about their new sound is that the fact when I was listening to their old material I was young and having a good time. No that i'm getting older and i'm starting to live out in the real world, it's almost as if the band is growing with me. I also respect that they haven't changed the way they distribute their music since the start. Even if you don't wanna buy a physical vinyl you can still download it for free.
I've been rambling for too long, but all in all i love the new direction their taking, and agree if they can put some more scrambles into their next album it will more than likely outshine this record.
p.s. this IS the most consistent band in the past decade.

well Knott made a good point, cohesion doesn't seem to be the main focus of their albums usually
just 'cause I acknowledge that he said something that makes sense doesn't mean I'm "spineless"
anyway my response should have been more like "I think cohesion could add a lot to any album, and it does add to Vacation, but I agree that it's not the most important thing to a BtMI! record"
