the split might be my favorite mostly because both bands sounded more hardcore than they usually do on it (except the last track) and at 9 minutes long or whatever, it isn't long enough for me to tire of either band, which definitely starts to happen when i listen to their longer releases.

The split was awesome as hell, and yeah it being really short helped both bands give an emotional jolt and get out before over-staying their welcome. That's kind of what this suffers from too IMO. It's really great but even though it's short, by the end of it I start feeling a bit bored of it.

this is okay. to the beat wins harder though

just came back from seeing To the Beat of a Dead Horse, the Touche side of the La Dispute split, and Parting the Sea Between Brightness and Me performed straight through in their entirety. fuck yeah.

The show I went to was pretty badass, dude.
Also, I saw this same setlist where they played all their discography.
|
| |
they're not bad performers, they were tearing it up both times i've seen them but idk i just can't get down to them for some reason.
|
| |
i saw them like 2 hours ago and they weren't playing their discog.

yeah, finally got to see them! was right at the front for most of their set. thought they were great! pianos become the teeth really impressed me as well. seahaven were very underwhelming; beau navire were alright, i've seen them play better sets. was a good night though. how was it for you?
|
| |
agreed mostly (not a big TA fan i guess). beau navire is better on the floor but it was cool to see meghan do the guest vox. pianos ruled, i was up front for filial and pensive then i bailed to the side by the speakers because i thought i might pass out from no water.

TA weren't quite as good as i'd hoped but I still really enjoyed them. If you weren't a fan to begin with I can understand if you didn't really get into it. I saw Beau Navire with Punch a few months ago and they played on the floor and were much better. They just sounded much better then as well, last night they were missing that 'spark' for the most part. It was so hot in there last night!
|
| |
yeah i was at that punch show also, first time i had seen loma and punch. beau navire was better that time mostly because the people at that show had actually heard of them. there were people there last night that had never heard pianos before, wtf?
|
| |
I've never really checked out pianos before tbh. I'd only heard the odd song here and there. After last night I need to give them a proper listen at some point.

just re-listened to this for the first time since the month after it came out. Not as good as I remember it being at all, lowering it to a weak 3.5
I still want to see them live cause they're excellent apparently but their studio stuff is really growing off me.
