"Went in with low expectations (probably because of all the hoopla from the haters) and was actually very impressed...pleasantly surprised by the excellent drum work throughout, some very decent guitar solos, and I was blown away by the soft piano passages found on many of the tracks, the transitions from the softer moments to the more hard hitting faster moments work wonderfully on this album...good variety/mix of music, probably my FAV Sum 41 album!"



I agree with you on a lot of this. I know "Underclass Hero" has a poor reputation too, but I personally liked both of these albums. I feel like Sum 41 has matured as a band and they have a more dynamic sound now:



- like you said, the changes in tempo and going from harder/softer music is a nice touch

- I think they've done a really good job with backing vocals in the last two albums -- they have some pretty decent harmony mixed in some of these songs

- a lot of catchy (albethey generic) guitar riffs

And you're basing that comment on what? What do you know or who you are to say Sum 41 is shit? You can hate it, you can hate the sound they make, but you can't say Sum 41 is shit.

In fact, I know many people who studied music and likes Sum 41.

Sum 41 isn't, musically speaking, the best band in the world...but it's a fairly good band.

I'm able to say that, (again) musically speaking, this album (Screaming Bloody Murder) is the best they did. Comparable, in music quality, to some past works from Muse.



So shit...shit is what you just said.

I'm not sure which is more biased, the review or the comments:



Jared mentioned somewhere in the comments that he didn't give this album a low rating just because it was Sum 41 who produced it. Really? You spent the first half of the review talking about how much you hate Sum 41. You keep going on about how Sum 41 steels all of their songs and at one point you string What Am I To Say with With Me and ultimately to Only One by Yellowcard. I see how With Me and Only One sound similar but then you add in What Am I To Say, which sounds nothing alike Only One. I don't think you understand that in this genre a main component of music is powerchords, and due to the nature of powercords, songs are going to sound similar to each other. Melodies do get borrowed from band to band. It happens all the time. (For Example listen to the guitar in the verse of Linoleum by NoFX and then listen to Letterbomb by Green Day).



Furthermore, you never actually explain what makes the album so bad. You mention about 3/4 of the songs but no song has a review longer than a sentence. I don't know what you expected from the album. You complain that it was too long. You complained that there are soft and hard songs. Want did you want?



But thats okay, a review is all opinion right? The problem is that you are so influential on this site that you have fanboys. While some of the members actually made good points, most called others "retarded, trolls, fanboys", and made statements such claiming that the album is terrible even though they didn't listen to it.

So many of the people are saying why are you arguing? Music's subjective so they can give it as low scores as they want, and some other people will think it's amazing. Then we get comments like this, it's just uneeded.
