Not that different, the production/atmosphere is awesome (although it maybe lends itself more to the aesthetic of the s/t imo). It’s a good mix though.
tect will probably have something else to say.

I meant different material as in is it different songs/compositions?

Oh sorry, yeah the vibe is similar to the s/t but the compositions are different. Peel’s take on Horizontal Hold is my preferred version. There’s a couple of unique tracks too. I’d probably check after s/t (if you happen to enjoy it).

Glad you enjoyed it, Boner.
If you liked the "rock-y" stuff more, you'll probably enjoy checking out the Peel Sessions first, and then the self-titled last.
Peel Sessions has a redux of three tracks from self-titled, but they are very different recordings. (In terms of both audio quality and arrangement.) Conveniently enough, they are three of the "rockier" tracks from self-titled, too, so it's a good segue. There's also an awesome previously unreleased track and a fully recorded version of 'Makeshift Swahili' from Deceit, appropriately retitled 'Swahili'. (The version on Deceit is spliced together from three different recordings - an old studio recording, a basement recording, and a live show, if i remember correctly; The version on John Peel Sessions is a pristine studio recording.)
Then the last three tracks of John Peel may as well be one track - they are just experimental tape recordings / ambient tracks that are reminiscent of a lot of the stuff you'll find on self-titled, but pared-down and simpler.
In a lot of ways, John Peel Sessions makes for a really good transition into self-titled for someone who liked Deceit but will still "feeling out" the more experimental bits.
I think either way, given your positive reaction, though, you'll come about to those bits, too. For example, 'Radio Prague' as a stand alone track isn't anything particularly special, but in the context of the album (and yes, all This Heat albums are "album albums" tbh) it is a perfect comedown from 'Shrink Wrap' and really acts more like an extended build-up for 'Makeshift Swahili'.
Anyway welcome to the fold :^)

Why haven't I checked this album out years ago? For a long time I only had their self-titled album, still amazing.
After only one listen to Deceit I can say it's fascinating. I don't know why but usually post-punk albums grow on me very fast, even the very experimental ones like from This Heat, Pere Ubu, Tuxedomoon or 23 Skidoo.
Also this is from my most favourite post-punk year: 1981 (followed by 1979).

Can't believe vocals like this existed in 1981 haha.
Then again, Throbbing Gristle wrote even more disturbing, morbid stuff in the 70's.
