"Devil You Know. And they are brilliant."

brilliant is a strong word. its just more outdated metalcore. its not bad for what it is, but its kind of boring.

Could the production for this be any more spot on?

Dude there's some solid metalcore out there

I used to shit on it back in the early 2000's because I was an elitist cunt back then, but yeah there's some awesome stuff

Aw, this still brings me the feels and also makes me headbang. It's earned its 4.

Agreed on Converge, though they strike me as a different kind of metalcore than these guys and As I Lay Dying and whatnot, they're much more complex

there is the more melodic metal leaning metalcore like this

then theres the more chaotic bands like converge

thats an incredibly simplistic and lazy division but it is true to an extent and a lot of metalcore bands can firmly be nudged more into one camp than the other

yeah, i know they're both technically metalcore but those two groups are so fucking different that it feels weird mentioning them in the same group

This album aged well. My guitarist referred to Devil You Know as the rejects of metalcore all in one band. It's sad but true.. all good separately but the music is unimpressive.

dont really get this sort of metalcore

So what about the bands that are chaotic AND melodic? Those are usually the best kinds IMO.

Revocation. I wouldn't necessarily consider them metalcore at their base though. You don't see many bands that can be considered chaotic and melodic that are generally considered metalcore in my experience.
