Any Isis ranking is quite ok to me because they're just that amazing. For me it's

yeah I'm not too big on metal vocals a lot of the time, but the singing on this album is really well done

Especially Carry and I love the addition of Maria Christopher in some of the songs.
|
| |
Yeah, almost makes me wish Isis experimented with women's vocals a bit more, though I guess it does kind of give this album its own identity

the version of Weight with Christopher on Live VI is orgasmic.

"what's so off-turning about the vox?"
Nothing, I just very rarely listen to music that has more screaming/growling/barking/animal noises than singing (or "cleans" if you prefer)...so just an adjustment thing. Guess I am a bit of a pussy ;]
But yeah I've dug the fuck outta this for the most part over the past few listens. A bit late to the party but ah well

The album certainly has an identity of its own that's for sure.

Nah, it's just a Neurosis ripoff with more generic songwriting.

Isis>>>>>Neurosis honestly

I definitely prefer Isis to Neurosis, though I have yet to hear TEOTS which is supposedly their lightest and will probably be my favorite

Love them both so much but I've yet to hear Neurosis make a song I'd prefer more than Weight or Carry. The t/t on TEOES comes close though.
|

Yeah Talons, definitely spin TEoES, by far my fav Neurosis
I consistently enjoy Isis more, but Neurosis's best songs absolutely kill Isis's best. In my opinion, of course
