I use to think Bloom was better and I had this a 4.5 but after I've moved to a whole new city doing a new job, this album has been something I've listened to a lot lately. It just brings such comfort for times of longing to be in the past that Bloom doesn't quite reach. I have them both 5's now and I can't say for sure one is better than the other, but they're both perfect. They're both hypnotic and beautiful in a way that's extremely difficult to match from anywhere else. Depression Cherry is wonderful but this and and Bloom are where it's at

Oh if we're going off of favorite song it's definitely "Somewhere Tonight" from Thank Your Lucky Stars but this and Bloom are the best as a whole. TYLS has a lot of filler. But DC is definitely up there. "Somewhere Tonight" is the best shoegaze goes 50's tribute ever. Probably the only one. But damn it is killer.

whats filler on tyls? the only track which i think isnt awesome is the first track, because of the vocals sounding a little uninspired. somewhere tonight is easy to fall in love with, though, but it doesn't have that expansive sound i think of when i think of beach house. the big, open sound on side A of bloom for example, or sparks
