Oh!!! 😲

I must do some soul searching then. I see the one before and after this both get 4.0s from Mr. Well. That's interesting too. Now for doing some Mazzy & Boney research...

Yeah a lot of this is just quite boring despite usually being pleasant on the surface (the title track is fucking terrible though)

Ah, that makes sense. Also that's a cool honour to have, I'm going to look for my fave 3.0 now.

I see you and Mazzy are always in 3.0ish areas now Boney. Please proceed, that makes sense too. At least, I mean I like them more than that obviously, but they are consistent to me so I can see that.

Yeah they just don’t really click with me despite being up my alley. Her voice is very nice but I don’t think she’s actually a very good singer or songwriter/lyricist in a lot of cases, and they often have these very plodding and super simple rhythm sections that hold things back quite a bit. This may be my least favorite of the first three albums though. (Also my hot take on these guys is that they weren’t a dream pop or psych band outside of a handful of tracks and are primarily a folk/alt-country band).

Totally see how this wouldn't appeal to some. It is hypnotising to me, puts me in a nice, calm state of mind, but if this effect doesn't work for you I can also see there wouldn't be any dream to qualify dream pop either haha!

hmmm I can't sleight that take tbh. I think their sound is a fairly mobile triangulation between the 3, and I'd actually give psych the dominate edge for this one (and maybe their first), but that's defs accurate for Swan

This one is the most psych/dreamy but the debut is pretty much straight folk/country/roots rock and yeah Swan pretty much straight folk. That one is dreamy but it mostly lacks the other markers of dream pop/psych.

It's the inbetweenness that I really like from them I think actually.

I guess. I just found it a bit weird when I first dug into them because they read to me fully as primarily Americana with some dream/psych tropes while most seem to consider them the opposite.

Is all Mazzy secretly a 5.0?

That combo of Wasted-Into Dust is amazing and incredible and perfect.
