i just queued this up to check it and noticed on spotify there was a standard edition and a 'full dynamic range' edition. was wondering if it was just a bullshit descriptor, partly cos i dont understand what its supposed to mean and doesnt seem like an actual remaster.

' The Full Dynamic Range reissues are sourced directly from the analog mix tapes or digital Betamax or DAT ones with no compression applied in mastering when released on CD, LP, or lossless FLAC formats.'
oh ok it would seem this is a thing specific to Earache records

Man Torn Apart and Deranged From Blood are some sick jams. Blasphemies of the Flesh is such an awesome cover also.

Was this the pre-dismember band or am I thinking of someone else

I think you're right. I'm pretty sure Dismember broke up and a few of the members joined Carnage and used Dismember songs to record this album.

Yeah, Dismember was on hiatus because some of the members were finishing school. So Fred/Matti/David joined up with Michael Amott and recorded this album. Some of these songs were originally Dismember demos like Death Evocation and a few others, rest were new (except Torn Apart/Infestation of evil were from Carnage's second demo, p sure Fred Estby played drums on that one too).
Not that you guys asked, but whatever lmao. I've just noticed that a lot of people don't really give Dismember the credit they deserve when it comes to the early Swedish dm scene. The amount of people I've seen calling Dismember "Entombed clones" or even "Carnage clones" is absolutely ridiculous.

Dismember definitely deserve their credit when it comes to Swedish death metal. Honestly I prefer them over Entombed. Both rule obviously but front to back I think Dismember was not only more consistent but also think their high points are a bit better than Entombed's high points

Definitely agree with all of that. They just seem to be underappreciated compared to Entombed and it irks me lol. I think people just see that LHP was released before LAEFS and jump to conclusions, but release dates can obv be deceiving. Plus, Dark Recollections came out before LHP.
Calling them Carnage clones is even more ridiculous considering they're literally in the band / helped write the music / some songs were originally meant for Dismember's debut lol. Not saying Entombed don't deserve credit too, obviously both bands were integral in creating the Stockholm dm sound. I just hate seeing Dismember's contributions being undervalued or ignored.
