pretentious - attempting to impress by affecting greater importance, talent, culture, etc., than is actually possessed

Yeah, that sounds like 4'33" to me

You know, 4'33'' was unique and original and that makes it a wonderful piece, but endlessly composing more similar simple noise music is like composing another 5'44'', 3'22'', 15'11'' etc. What's the point?
i'm not following this thought process at all

Alright, so I read those last few pages and was like, okay so wtf is 4'33"? I looked it up, watched the first video that popped up, waited a few seconds for the music to start before realizing that it wasn't going to, and then decided that it was truly, remarkably... stupid.

Baby A, Kid B, Teenager C, and Adult D, a series of "concept" albums. XD

but 4'33'' is nothing. it's not music. it's a philosophical statement, and a thought-provoking one at that, but it's not music.

I mean, sure, if you put it like that. But why not just pose the question? Why do you need an orchestral arrangement to demonstrate it?

Yeah no I'm agreeing with you Muppelope. It's idiotic to have someone sit on stage and do nothing and have that be considered a piece of music.

"Why do you need an orchestral arrangement to demonstrate it?"

Because you're a pretentious wanker

Right. Like, maybe the first time it was performed it was some big statement, but the fact that other musical acts are still covering it or performing it is just ridiculous. There's no point anymore.

What cracks me up the most is that it's in three movements. Like, three distinct pieces that are all completely silent.
