watching enough Ben Shapiro to know how much he talks about his sister is probably deserving of a medical diagnosis itself

No US party wants to solve the following major issues:

1. gun control

2. inflation inflicted on the poor

In a recent Netflix hagiography of Barack Obama, he is talking to a young girl from Mississippi, who works as a caregiver for elders. They are walking in a supermarket and the caregiver goes like "fried chicken costs three dollars a kilo, whereas fresh vegetables cost ten dollars a kilo.

And Obama doesn’t utter a single comment!

Disclaimer:

To give some measure of comparison, my country Greece is second to first poorest EU state (first is Bulgaria). At least, we don't have the gun problem, but we have a lot of other problems that are similar to the US, hence the interest in US politics.

^^You need to see this, it's probably on YT, and cheap is a function of income.

probably because he knows saying fresh vegetables are 10 USD for 1000 g is hilarious crazy bullshit. the public data is easily available on usda.gov, most everything is well within 3 usd for 1000 g. i live in stupid expensive los angeles and buy cabbages and and carrots on a daily basis and its usually under $1/lb or ~2usd/1kg

libs still think his biggest scandal was the tan suit, as if the drone program, expanded warrantless wiretapping and prosecution of whistleblowers (Assange, Snowden, Manning) all don't exist

^^ I take your word for it budgie, but I'm 100% sure of what I saw and heard in that documentary.

I mean, why would the caregiver lie for such a thing?

most food is ridiculously expensive now especially in Canada. groceries have almost doubled in the past 3 years or so. but you can still buy rice, beans, peas and stuff like that for cheap

i just dont trust documentaries man. so easy to skew or omit data to frame anything the way you want to frame it. just about every complaint about the US in comparison to (western) europe IMO is valid but the people bitching about being fat cause healthy food is expensive are idiots and i hate that comment and i hear it all the time. a half kilo of spinach is 3 USD, pork shoulder is usually around 2USD for a kilo, it's soo easy to not eat processed food even on a very modest discretionary income. pet peeve. as an aside i picked up some beets lately for $0.89/lb for my juicer. super yum

https://www.ers.usda.gov/data-products/fruit-and-vegetable-prices.aspx if you want to look at the data yourself

food prices are legitimately insane rn but the notion that it somehow leads to people being fat is hilarious. it makes it harder to be fat. being overweight has always been a mental health issue, the same as any other addiction

i myself would like to know why there's more sugar etc in (E.G.) soda than there used to be

a 20 oz pepsi in 2002 had 27 grams of sugar

a 20 oz pepsi today has 70 grams of sugar

i'm not a health surgeon, can anyone explain this phenomenon

@Colton

Six day work week has been already a thing for industries that heavily rely on exports, or in tourism (seven day work week!).

The wages in those industries are the same for each day of the week.

The new law applies for companies that don't belong to export or tourism, that need to cover demand on extraordinary occasions. In contrast to exporting industries and tourism, the sixth work day is compensated more generously than the other working days, and thus it's not beneficial for bosses to apply it as the norm.

Also, in the latter category, bosses need to fully justify the six work days shift, to the authorities.
