Okay seriously.
How many albums have you written and recorded?
.....
None?
Ahh, I see I see...
It's gotta be hard to create new material all the time, expecially for a band with so many records already...
So...
Leave 'em alone!!!
I personally love their new album, as I am and forever will be a fan, even if they started bringing out shit to the likes of Fall Out Boy...or something.
It's making sales. I guess it's gotta be worth buying then.
It's a catchy as hell album with well written verses and lovely vocals.

Rofl I love the whole, "How many albums have you written and recorded?" line. It's so colossally stupid.

in the same way that the people i get crits on my art from aren't as good as me
you don't need to have an album of your own to tell if something sucks

Okay okay I deserve all that...
But I still stand by the point that loads of people are still buying '21st Century Breakdown'
...in the middle of an economic crysis
...despite the fact that it apparently sucks?
See, that doesn't make sense.
People love it. It is good to many.
Just because a few people here decide they hate it, doesn't make it true.
If ONE person was to love it, then it's still an awesome album.

mainstream music is in general, simple and shitty music
people who listen to pop and other mainstream bands tend to be easy to please, as a result, poppy, simple music is more popular and people tend to build it up to be the greatest thing ever
meanwhile everyone who has half a brain realizes it sucks

Not true. Fact is that a music site like this exists to inform people where good music can be found, and there's much better music than this if people bothered to look past the radio and MTV. I still maintain that a lot of people in the world have never actually experienced good music, just semi-enjoyable music that passes the time of day.

Ahahaha KILL...you have a good point.
Green Day isn't pop.
It's just popular.

Lmfao!
Noooo, never. Green Day as they are today, do NOT produce punk.
But, who gives a flying fuck if they don't?
Whatever they produce still has loads of fans following it.
Some people hate their new stuff, others despise their older stuff (how, I still don't see)...
Whatever they are, people still love it. It is still good, to some, whether you like it or not.

it's good to people who listen to music to raise their social status and have forced themselves to believe that this is good music
not people who listen to music because they actually like it

I liked American Idiot, but this is just ridiculous. And I maintain that people who enjoy this only do so because they don't know enough music to recognise how mediocre it is, and hence are easily pleased.
At the end of the day, the main problem I have with this record (excepting its length) is that it takes about as many risks as the new Kate Voegele album. Also, the fact that this will be the least mainstream thing most people will listen to in 2009.

Whoa, you think people only listen to Green Day 'cos they're the "cool kids" or something?
FYI, I do actually love Green Day.
I refuse to listen to the radio. I don't want to be strongly biased when I'm choosing what music I listen to.
I personally choose to listen to Green Day because I actually like it. NOT 'cos it's what's on the radio. NOT 'cos a friend say's they're cool.
They produce good music to my ears.

I'll be honest here, it seemed at lot like that after AI came out - not the reason i dislike the band - but still...
