lol No I don't hate it at all, from both a critical and personal stand point I think it's good, but
nothing more. I just think it's MASSIVELY overrated, and since NIN is one of my favorite bands, all
the acclaim this thing receives just really ticks me off and gets on my nerves. So my name is like an
inside joke because my friend's knew how sick I got of this album getting so much praise and they
would always tease me with it for years of my life lol.

I enjoy it. the emotional aspect of the music that he was employing with it gets overly cumbersome to me. same case, but less so with tDS. there are also several tracks that I don't enjoy musically. but it's still a great album, I've tossed around 4 and 4.5

I agree with you on the emotional aspect. I got kind of sick of it honestly, Trent sounded genuinely tortured to me on The Downward Spiral, it sounds to me that he's whining like a bitch on this album more than anything. Plus, I can't get over how bloated this thing is, how much material there is that could have been cut, it just takes me out of the element. Pilgrimage, Please, and Even Deeper are such useless and forgettable songs.

it also has it's fair share of great songs, so I can justify at least a 4. at the end of the day it's minor gripes compared to many worse albums.

I do however hope that Trent hurries his ass off in remastering this album and releasing it like he
vaguely hinted he was going to do back in 09. If the deluxe remastered 20th anniversary edition thing
of this album ever sees the light of day, I'm reviewing the shit out of it.

Well, apparently anything before 2003 needs 5.1 surround sound blue-ray quality.

doesn't need remastering [2]
... and the best industrial album ever released.

Wasn't trying to give the impression that I was for remasters, I can never hear the difference in
quality between the remaster and the original tbh. And yeah I get what you mean about the authenticity
factor and I agree.

The only reason I like rel-releases is for the bonus material, and The Fragile could have some interesting stuff if its re-released. The Vinyl and Cassette versions of this album contain some exclusive stuff that I'd like to see on CD.

That's because Trent was the one approving of it, not like the one some big record label remastered and released for shits and giggles a month later.
