That's true. To me, they were the consummate "Magic Eye" band... just *didn't get it*, until one day, I very much *did*.
This album though, only hints at what they'd become. They needed some kind of inherent nous to rise above the nu-metal slop at the time.

As for this album, no other record sounds like it. Show me one. Not a 3 by any means. Hardly a nu metal, as u say, album sounds like this.

There’s some really great tracks that hint at something better but man there’s a whole lot I don’t love too… Engine No 9 is possibly my least favorite song from these guys, bottom 5 at least.
