i really like high violet. and parts of this and alligator. which is odd because i feel like the former two are the better albums musically i just haven't cracked them yet. however i've been listening for a while and nothing's really happened so i'm not sure honestly.

In my opinion...
High Violet and Alligator both have flaws.
Alligators are somewhat more outstanding, but Berninger and Co. are also much more lovable on that record, more forgivable.
High Violet is much more calculated, and it's great stuff but it's no Boxer and it's no Alligator.

I think Alligator actually has more flaws than High Violet (Val Jester, Astronauts), but the great songs are so fucking great it overpowers it.
