If Trent hasn't already he should start singing Capital G with a T. Subtle as a brick but I wanna see conservative media lose their shit over it.

That wouldn't work. Capital G is the prefect lampooning of GWB and the necon Christian (hence the capital G also being the weird relationship with God) interventionist republicans. Trump is a different beast all together. There are still the necon elements in the republican party but it's now more a of a used car salesman using populist nationalism, so it requires more nuance to lampoon. Also, thankfully Trump hasn't started any wars (yet). And of course, the conservative media wouldn't really care considering Reznor isn't really that relevant.

Trent could record a hour of him jacking off into a Tenga and his fans would call it his best since Ghost.

You realize Ghost is like his least liked album right?

Maybe on sputnikmusic, but I've been on the internet long enough to see that NiN fans think everything he makes is amazing. Also, that is absolutely incorrect, his least liked album is generally considered to be Hesistation Marks because it isn't Industrial like their previous albums. Every NiN fans I talk to hates Hesistation Marks.

Ghost is like 4 discs of mostly ambient instrumental tracks for hardcore fans while HM is pretty middle of the road NIN.

The problem was fans considered HM "selling out". The thing about Ghosts is that it is exactly what NiN diehards enjoy, rebelling against anything people enjoy because "fuck the music industry" or some shit.
https://audioxide.com/articles/ranking-nine-inch-nails-studio-albums/ audioxide ranks HM as the worst album.
https://consequenceofsound.net/2018/06/ranking-every-nine-inch-nails-album/2/ Consequence of sound ranking HM in the bottom 3 with Ghosts hitting the middle.
https://www.reddit.com/r/nin/comments/8p36c5/ranking_every_nine_inch_nails_album_from_worst_to/ NiN reddit, almost every other post is putting HM at the bottom.

I have Zero interest in visiting this album this Year.

Lol NIN hit their peak in the 90's, everything after was diminishing returns for them. The notion that HM, an album so way past their prime was selling out is so absurd you have to be trolling. Please elaborate on this theory cause I'm dumbfounded.

I mean, other than Bad Witch and Downward Spiral, are there any NiN works worth revisiting?
|

I guess The Slip is appropriately titled then. I heard one song from it, and it was pretty awful.

Slip was good imho, it just didn't have anything that really hooked me.

@Jack I'd say so, yeah. NTAE, Fragile, PHM, Broken, this. You can probably skip The Slip and Add Violence but most of the other shit is at least worth checking out. No way I'm reading those articles you were quoting, that sounds like some real dumb shit. But I will give you that a large portion of fans ranks HM towards the bottom.

I was fascinated with this album when it came out, but thinking that half of the album works as background music for having sex is not something I can accept in a rock band, especially NIN. You have dudes like ginuwine for that purpose. Yeah, they made closer, so what? the rest of the downward spiral is basically the perfect playlist for the gym, especially if you practice boxing.

It’s good, but they definitely have done better.

This album would be a 5 if it ended a bit better. The Great Destroyer is the perfect set-up to the final run of tracks, and the next two are pretty sweet, but Zero Sum is a huge letdown as a closer.
Honestly, this has aged stupidly well.
