How they were described to me was that they're essentially what should've followed Midian if they wanted to go one of the best best album streaks in history.
Granted I didn't mind the post-Midian works all that much, though comparatively lacking in a handful of ways and with valid reasons for the alienation among the fanbase, but that's neither here nor there!

Agreed. Loved most of the albums in between, but with Hammer and Crypt they went right back to the heights of Midian and what came before.

Darkly and Manticore are their only bad albums, everything else slays.
And yeah this is the perfect time of year for Cradle jamming. m/

Yeah those albums sucked but I'd throw in Thornography along with them.

Godspeed was kinda weak tho

Thornography is insanely uneven, it does have some moments though, but plenty of terrible ones. Godspeed I have a soft spot for, it's not perfect but it's way less cringey than Thorn. Midnight Shadows is one of their best non-classic songs.

Nah Godspeed is solid as hell too. Can’t agree with you on Thornography though bro I think it’s almost flawless. It’s different though so I can see why people might be turned off by it.

If you like those vocals I can see how you can let it slide, but I can't. Also as a followup to Nymph, it was a huge blow to the nuts for me, Nymph I still maintain is their most underrated album and an unsung masterpiece.

That one is amazing too yeah but idk I love Thornography. I mean I got into the band heavy around the time it was released so it’s kinda special for me.

Was underwhelmed by Thorno at first but it grew on me so much. I like it almost as much as their classics now. Riffs so hard, really different sounding. I remember Dani saying if Nymph was their really female record, they wanted to make it a really manly record. Or was that about Godspeed?

Can understand the heavy dislike it seems to get cause of the bigger emphasis on sung choruses and the songs built around sounding more metal than symphonic but the nostalgia and fun factor makes it too hard for me to hate. Warrants a solid 3.5 I think.

The whole thing slays but how awesome is the run from Cthulhu Dawn through to Lord Abortion? Damn. Also love how geeky the song title 'Death Magick for Adepts' is, complete with the k on the end of magic, haha

All the Cradle discussing has made me realise this deserved a spin. Lord Abortion is so weird and twisted. Dani at his best vocally

Yeah man! Deservedly so!
I guess we'll never get the average up though, it has gotten too much hate back in the day and all those scores still count...
