Awesome album but Black Celebration is definitely my favorite one.

I think Violator is inarguably their finest work lyrically and instrumentally (even the band admits it), but I do prefer to listen to some albums over this at times. Don't really have a favorite tho.

yeah they definitely got it right on this one but i think in terms of personal favorites, i actually kinda prefer or at least equally like the direction they took w some of the later albums (namely SOFAD, Ultra, PTA, parts of the new one)

The stretch of albums from Black Cele to Songs of Faith are all God mode

It's curious to note the transition from Blue Dress to Clean.

I once made a dumb comment saying that the album got dull towards the end (if I recall well).

Oh well, we all make mistakes.

That mistake is unforgivable

86-98 was god mode for them, then reprised in 2005-ish for the PTA stuff & "Martyr"

last album wasn't bad either

also, this has been kinda touched on earlier but man it's amazing how similar martin & dave sound when you're first getting into DM in comparison to later on when it's obvious which one's singing, and just how different they are as vocalists in general

now i guess the point of contention is which one was the main songwriter for a given track, on the newer stuff at least

The past is irrelevant, it's the present which matters.

And in the present, I'd say this is a fantastic album, but for some reason not quite a 5 for me.

I mean, I used to have dumb opinions back in my early days at Sput, but I matured and grew as a listener.

Album is awesome no doubts but Black Celebration is just a beast of its own to me, atmosphere/lyrics/album flow I really think it's their best in every possible way. "Here is the House" is their best track for me. That said I guess Black Celebration caters to a different and more specific audience than Violator so I'm fine in being the only one thinking that way.

Oh yes, I meant on Sputnik. There are like 2 pages for review, I should bump those sometimes but I'm afraid it would end up like when I tried to bump A Broken Frame or Some Great Reward hahaha.

I'm prob the only one on Sput who likes MftM the best.

i used to feel like Music for the Masses was more of a bridging of the gaps between BC & Violator, but it really does stand on its own pretty well

some of my favorite tracks on there: the first three, Behind the Wheel, & Nothing, at least

fwiw my favorite is pretty much Ultra
