Trif, heritage obviously has a beautiful sounding throwback production job but that style would never work with this type of music. The kick and toms would sound mushy as hell for example, and what would a DM band do with those low and mid gain guitar tones? I wish the songwriting on that album lived up to the sound design, but I also don’t want my DM to sound like that. DM needs to be a bit abrasive, chaotic, suffocating, as long as it sounds human and isn’t a sanitized, over quantized, note by note production like Archspire then I’m good.

Very true Itwas, I don't want all albums to sound like Heritage, that wouldn't work at all. Just thought of it as an example of something I liked a lot. 100% on board with the sanitised remark too.

I have a hard time choosing a favorite. Psalms, Chapters and Passages are just all so close in quality and the new one rips too, I’m ok with leaving it undecided and just saying they’re the fuckin best brutal death metal band to grace the planet thus far
