I think Obscura still definitely tops this for me. But they're both like holy grails of avant death metal so I don't feel the urge to compare them often.

Yeah this is ez in the top echelons of dm. Definitely top 19 DM album for me but my top claims would prolly be Close To a World Below, None So Vile, and Those Whom the Gods Detest (a little based towards the last since Nile helped sparked my interest in death metal)

Yeah I mean this album is probably a top 5 favorite album for me. I think my favorite band at this point probably has to be the guts, just cuz their output has consistently been stellar. Ulcerate is close as a band/work as a whole but I might enjoy this slightly more than any gorguts album. Its just so insanely cathartic and well-crafted
