"so many tracks are full of the most cliche goth rock and folk melodies"
I thought that was the charm of basically every Agalloch song ever. Generally agree though.

Its kinda funny how sacred we all consider them to be when we mostly agree that criticisms like that one are mostly* on point.

I agree, top 10 Bjork track. Close mind.

The song structures are simplistic but also pretty weird and uncommon. Ghosts of the Midwinter Fires is basically two sections of a post-rock track with a 3 minute bm song thrown in the middle.
Black Lake is amazing with how it develops too, the first time you listen you really have no idea where it's going at all (in a good way).

When I first heard this I felt the same way, but over time I grew to love a lot of it and appreciate that it was just as interesting as their previous three. This is still no Ashes, that one's a 5/5 if you include Scars at the end.

the first 3 records + The White EP are utter perfection, trying to rank them is an exercise in futility.

Folklore > Ashes > Mantle > Marrow > Serpent
Discog is perfect though.

I would rank them but it's actually been too long. I'll give that a shot today, too.
