I was flummoxed by this when I first heard it. Like, where are the crazy harmonized guitar solo sections? Why isn't Brann playing five minutes of fills at a time? The riffs, man? But the larger purpose of the album sunk in after a while, the longer journey with melancholy turns and themes that develop over time rather than bursting from the forest to seize you. It's a different beast that you fall in love with rather than being swept off your feet.

Yeah this album is dense as fuck, it has really grown on me over the last year. It'd be a 5 in my book for sure.

Phase 2: indifference - I don't really 'get' this
Phase 3: enjoyment - actually, this is pretty good
Phase 4: enhanced enjoyment - wow, this is on another level
Phase 5: slightly less enjoyment - sweet albeit occasional jam
I do agree with you though Seven, this one reveals itself over a period of time but can be very rewarding.
