Album does riff hard and have some killer tracks. Unpopular opinion though I have been digging Esoteric Warfare and Chimera more than this one lately

Nobody ever talks about Wolf's Lair Abyss. That's the real shame.

Esoteric Warfare is fantastic. Ordo Ad Chao would be a masterpiece if the production wasn’t grating af

Glad to see someone else loves Esoteric Warfare. There's some amazing moments on that one and those first 3 tracks are a killer way to kick off a black metal album

bm might the most vibe based metal genre, trying to speak in absolute objective terms about it is pretty funny.

There’s definitely more to it than that though, or at least there should be. Which is why a lot of BM is boring. I’m not being absolute, I just don’t think it deserves the classic status it has. Especially when their other, far superior albums get talked down to so much.

The general glowing positivity surrounding Daemon as well solidifies this for me, and it encourages the band to be less creative and interesting. Which is kinda lame imo

But again, this album is great.

Just jammed again and bumped up my rating. I really love how scary this album sounds, definitely it’s greatest strength, and mostly thanks to the backstory

Nice brab, but I'm still not completely writing off your insanity. There are subtle hints.

the production is what makes it special, it sounds so occult and obscure. it def needs a hifi system though, shitty earbuds won’t do you any favors.

I mean preferring this over bm darkthrone is one thing but saying it "shits all over any bm darkthrone" is a little absurd

This is THE quintessential black metal album IMO. Sounds like nothing that came out before it. Plus, it has FIOUUUUUMEREAYALLL FOCK

If you're referring to my comment, I only said it shits on blaze. I stand by that. I think ABITNS is probably the most overrated classic bm album. But I'm also a guy that enjoys mid and later darkthrone more than early darkthrone

Idk it sounds a LOT like early Bathory. Also the Darkthrone trilogy was already out by then. So I’d say it owes a lot to those.
