"plus just cuz the point of something is reached doesn't make it good. metal machine music was supposed to be an album made entirely of static. did it reach that goal? yes. was it not still fucking atrocious? "

I never said it DID make it good, I just said that a lot of people cite lack of structure as being the reason it sucks. They've written well structured songs before (Alaska comes to mind) so if they wanted to write well structured songs, they would.

*lack of formulaic and common song structure

its not just a bunch of random melodies thrown together like the population of sputnik thinks, the music makes sense, even most of the genre breaks are reworked versions of previous melodies and ideas used in heavier sections

If I can just butt in here, the people that bitch about this album not having any structure really, really need to listen while reading the lyrics.

I don't like it because it's boring and has boring riffs, and a lot of the time their isn't any riffs, just some muddled chords

Not very technical at all actually

there is definitely structure in some of their songs but on colors it's pretty elusive.

I used to think Mordecai was overrated.

It's definitely one of their best songs, easily.

@trebor i disagree

@qwe the primer is one of their worst songs, they do much better when they act as lazy songwriters and just throw shit together, I find it more fun especially when they make it as melodically interesting as they did on here
