Ahahahaha, does Sputnik really not allow you to rate this a 1.0? That's hilarious.
I understand dissenting opinions and all that, but I always listen to an album all the way through before I rate it. Usually more than once. Even if I don't enjoy it. Patience is a virtue.
If I really can't make it through it, I don't rate it. That's what I did with Hvis Lyset Tar Oss. BM just isn't my thing.

It kind of makes sense a little bit.
Though I really wonder if I see more 1's or 5's thrown out on this site. I feel like they should both be used pretty sparingly, but maybe that's just me.

Ok - thanks people.

Really though, the argument of "I sat through less than 1/4 of the album and didn't enjoy it, so it deserves a 1" is not a very good one.

Ok - but I have listened to all of it now.

Well, I'm not going to argue with you, but man, I certainly disagree.

it is quite obvious that you didn't really pay any attention to this

"Just wanted an idea of why people like this. It's sounds like the band has just thrown a few arbitrary chords together. Where's the crafting?"
Perhaps.

Amazing record. It's desolate and completely hopeless. And those crescendos are uffffff. That's why it's a so acclaimed. And because in the mid 90's there was absolutely nothing that sounded like this. I guess if you don't like really ambient-oriented minimalist-ish music this probably won't appeal to you.

I don't normally listen to this kind of stuff and I love it, but maybe I'm the exception

Jacquibim:
"You can still rate it below a 2.0 if you review it, I guess that's Sputnik's way of acknowledging that you "justified" your rating. Case in point; Zettel has this 1.5'd"
I just entered a '1.0 - Awful' rating on Sam Smith's 'In the lonely hour' and it was accepted (now removed).
Very strange...
|
| |
So, with Sputnik, one can enter 1.0 for Sam Smith's 'In the lonely hour' , but you can't for Godspeed You! Black Emperor's 'F#A# (Infinity)'.
Maybe Sputnik have some explaining to do?
|
| |
yeah really hard to come up with a reason for why you can't 1.0 this album but can 1.0 in the lonely hour

I wasn't super impressed when I saw them. They mostly played new stuff and it was rather muddled and disappointing
