That's cause it's hard for you to accept/admit that your taste is basic.

I never leave this album feeling good. It drives you to a desert and kicks you out of the passenger seat, and then leaves you to figure out how you're gonna make it home.

this one doesn’t make me feel nearly as bad as like disambig does. or as like, full of energy that i want to jump off a building as lost in the sound

This isn't to be rude, but people with the death metal/black metal/etc pie charts tend to have really predictable tastes.

I totally understand; it's the way that closer gets to you. I can see how it brings some people to closure and a better place, but sadly I move in the opposite direction by the end. Regardless, still an amazing album. I still remember my socks being blown off by the opening riff when I first listened to this.

And yea, it doesn't get any better through the rest of their albums, agreed. Lost in the sound is pretty hopeless by the end, same as disambiguation.

Anything other than "classic" doesn't fit for the impact this had on the scene.
