Only this and Language have been worth it for me with this band. New album is pretty boring and Intrinsic was just flat out bad.

even if the songwriting on intrinsic was good the production was awful and ruined any chance of it being listenable

^this, they should remaster Intrinsic, my main gripe is the vocal on that album, not a fan

I agree. Intrinsic had potential.

Intrinsic felt like a mess on my first listen, but it kinda grew on me. But yea, a remaster would be sweet

Doubt we'll live to see that happen unfortunately, or it'll get turned into a post-rock snoozefest

Knowing that there's a current trend in "remastering" metal albums that are like 1 day old and releasing them for the same price, a remaster of Intrinsic cannot be far behind.

Solid album for what it is, though the technicality and guitar sound can be a bit annoying at times. The slower moments are my favorites actually.

The interplay between the heaviness and the moments of slower, atmospheric moments are what make this so good. It's also what makes Language and Clairvoyant comparatively boring.

I actually like Language a lot more haha they pull off slower more moody and atmospheric songs so well. It shows how much better they are compared to shit bands like Periphery.

Well to be fair it's very easy to do better than Periphery. The issue is that there are no more "wow" moments to me anymore, rather just a plane of empty, proggy post-rock. Sure, it can do nice things here and then, but nothing like the instrumental break on "Flourish." What makes it so memorable is how it contrasts and builds off of the deathcore-tinged sound that dominated the beginning of the track. They could transition into and out of those atmospheric portions and still hit like a truck. They've since sacrificed that, which was their most attractive quality.

Been jamming Primal Directive a lot the past week, though tbh the second half of the album didn't click as well as the first when I initially played it through. Gonna give it a go again tonight.
