Sandoval has found Jesus and plays legacy Morbid Angel material live with I Morbid, but due to his newfound faith, he is not compatible with Morbid Angel.

Many such cases in the metal scene... It's very understandable from a psychological/cultural point of view. Metal/Rock musician parties hard (drugs, sex, alcohol, etc...) until he/she realizes the lifestyle is destroying his mental and physical health. Feels his/her life has no purpose now and feels bad about it all... Then all of a sudden he/she finds Jesus/insert whatever worked in the culture for self-forgiveness and stuff like that and goes all in with his/her newfound faith to feel better...

Then you get people like Lemmy who stayed true to his agnosticism even after admitting his lifestyle fucked up his health. Some people just need a saviour who gives them purpose to feel better about themselves ig

Tom Araya has been a catholic his whole life and never let that stop him from being in Slayer. Geezer Butler is another example.

Interestingly, not from a metaphysical POV. In that context it's just nonsensical superstition.

I'm happy for Sandoval playing Morbid Angel stuff again, it gives the fans hope that he can return to the band one day, but to say he is incompatible, and at the same time play the songs and live the touring life again, is simply inconsistent.
