Marilyn Manson - Antichrist Superstar and NIN's The Downward Spiral
Both have a lot of heavy songs but seldom reach the point of clipping due to compression/loudness war (in fact, they both have incredible dynamic range when you consider the time of their release and the other albums in their respective genres). On top of that, the production is used as if it's an instrument itself making the most cathartic songs on the album (The Reflecting God and Big Man with a Gun respectively) have the most clipping and compression but even then it adds even more to the listening experience when you consider their context in each of their respective album's storylines. They're proof that loud is acceptable when used strategically but it generally doesn't make the music better because quieter db's make the music stick out more, etc
Edit - DR: 8 isn't bad at all although yeah it is right there on the borderline

Damn, some serious production critics here hah. I can shed some light on the production and recording aspect if anyone is interested. A fair amount of guitar parts were doubled and panned to both sides to really give certain sections a very huge sound. That might be part of the "Compressed to shit"-ness that people are hearing? I dunno, maybe I'm not hearing what other people are hearing since I have intimate knowledge of everything that happened. I was the one who recorded all the guitars and bass with my little home studio set up. Anyhow, we were all happy with the final product, albeit a few minor things. Nothing is perfect after all.

if you turn it down it still sucks cos its always gonna be the same lvl of loudness in the SOURCE bro it cant even be fixed
master it less harshly and ahh the dynamics come out to play, i can turn it up hard and it sounds even better than lower volume unlike compressed queef and can play on headphones cos normally it gives me a migraine headache(sinkin down to ur lvl) jamming modern shite
oh and all the turds who say the production is fine just don't know any better
so basically what im sayin is
release a high DR master on hdtracks or something. cheers!
