It doesn't help that it opens with quite possibly the two 'happiest songs' on the record, a commonly occurring trope in album song ordering is that the either the first or the second song on the album will the 'happiest' or most upbeat song on the entire album (in the case of the 2nd song, it will also tend to be more generic as well). they will also have a good chance of being connected musically or thematically. generally the first,last, and the very middle song will be dramatic, at least compared to the rest of the album.
basically: the 1st song should interest you, the 2nd should hook you in.

I don't know if this is just a coincidence & I have done absolutely zero research to back this thought up... but if I was to completely evaluate my entire music collection (on average) I'd prefer track 1 to track 2.
