Is this peak Death? Probably. Not that there are any deep valleys in a mountain range that is their discography.

90s >
Although it has to be said absolutely nobody was listening to this in the 90s

^^In Greece in particular, this album and its predecessors were nowhere to be found at the time, due to ludicrous distribution and equally ludicrous pricing whenever CD copies made their appearance.
Fortunately, Century Media reissues fixed this.
And Symbolic was passed by as a 'merely' 4/5 Death album by local critics at the time of release.
'90s metal music criticism has a lot of skeletons in its closet...

I can very much imagine this having an ‘HMV import’ sticker slapped on the cover and being sold for 15-30 quid which back then was equivalent to £30-60.

^^I can definitely see that £30-60 figure, I have seen Death CDs being sold for around 8000 good old drachmas at the time (whereas the baseline price for new CDs was around 5000), and the currency equivalence at that time was 1£ ~ 150 drachmas.

is that why there’s seemingly an abundance of 90s metal vinyl records in Greece?
|

Album Rating: 4.5
^^In general, CDs are easier to store, stack and maintain, therefore easier to be sold and more in vogue despite being more expensive at the time, so maybe that could explain the abundance in '90s metal vinyl stock.
