i agree seven, if that's the actual reasoning for post-cts album, that they want to only write songs which they can comfortably perform live, that's really disappointing. thought they just evolved in their taste. no harm in writing another blood mountain, where you have some tracks you rarely play live, like bladecatcher, and other tracks which lend themselves to the arena, like colony of birchmen

blood mountain is a one-off. i would love some more remission type songs, in the style of trilobyte and ol' nessie. i'd die for more of that style

Sometimes BM is my favourite so yeah, definitely. Can't see it happening again mind, any combination of the first 3 albums would be amazing. I really dig this now but my word did I dislike it at first.

I never really dislikes it, but I was very confused through the first five to ten listens. At least that's how I remember it. Anything that happened on MySpace tends to be a little hazy now.

"Blood Mountain was the pinnacle" That's a weird way to spell Remission.

Holy fuck, i am on Mastodon binge for some unknown reason, this album is so fucking gooooood, in terms of anything progressive i listened to after this album. Ghost of Karelia is perfect example of how to build the bass in your album, holy shit it moves my house when loudly played. 30hz exists!!!!! Oh, btw, fuck this review and it's numpty author.

I find each and every one of their albums engaging in their own way. They really don't share many similarities. Even the ones considered as their weakest (Hunter, OMRTS) are great for me, but still the one differs from the other.

What bothers me is that people would love some raw material from them, but when the massive Diamonds in the Witch House comes out, it's suddenly boring and/or wall of sound.

I still think Leviathan is their best. It was my first Mastodon record though, so in fairness that is probably why I hold it in such high regard.

This album is good but I never really got into it all that much.

I've never really paid that much attention to this. Maybe I should revisit at some stage and reconsider my rating?

I think it's their last great album, at least for now
