its actually a straight rip off and they are pretty open about it. their albums are all purposeful ripoffs of death albums and while that might sound cool in theory it just ends up being "what if leprosy/spiritual healing/human sucked".

it's a bit different with a band like demilich where they only released a rather limited amount of original material

Yeah totally agree on that sentiment. Gruesome is mostly just remixed Death songs which just makes me want the real thing.
They seem fairly talented though so I feel like they have the potential to make something that can actually stand on its own.
I was shilling them in a Gruesome thread but I think Hemotoxin’s last album was a pretty perfect blend of being Death inspired while still unique enough to be its own thing.
